  • Yes, we do accept insurance!

    • In-network with Aetna (North Carolina)

    • Certified out-of-network provider for Tricare/Humana (North Carolina)

If your insurance plan is not listed above, we can still provide therapy out-of-network. In this case, you will typically be responsible for the session fees upfront. We can provide you with a detailed receipt (superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

Please note: Out-of-network benefits vary widely between insurance plans. It's essential to contact your insurance provider to understand your specific coverage, including any deductibles, copayments, or reimbursement percentages.

If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to us.

  • To simplify the payment process, I require a credit card to be kept securely on file in SessionsHealth (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) which will be automatically billed on the same day as your session. This ensures a seamless experience and allows us to focus on your therapy without the hassle of payment transactions.

  • Feel free to reach out through email, phone, or using the contact page on this website —I'm here to connect with you. Following our initial 15-minute consultation, we'll arrange for an intake appointment, a space where we delve into your present concerns and aspirations for counseling. This session goes beyond gathering background information; it's an opportunity for us to truly know each other. Together, we'll explore whether the synergy aligns, ensuring that I am the right guide to accompany you on your counseling journey.

  • When you book a session with me, I reserve that specific time slot just for you and I’m counting on you to be there. Consistency is key for effective therapy, and frequent cancellations disrupts the treatment process.

If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, and you have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session. Exceptions are made for true emergencies. We will go over all policies and procedures during the intake appointment.

  • At this time, Safe Harbor Therapy exclusively offers telehealth sessions. While we don't provide in-person sessions, our telehealth platform ensures a secure and confidential space for your counseling journey. If you have any questions or if there's anything specific you'd like to discuss regarding telehealth sessions, feel free to reach out. Your comfort and well-being remain our top priorities.

  • I firmly believe and have experienced the transformative impact of virtual therapy, recognizing the strength of human connection across distances. Online therapy proves to be a highly effective and convenient mode of counseling, producing outcomes comparable to traditional in-person sessions. It allows me to work with individuals throughout North Carolina, providing a valuable resource for clients with busy schedules who still seek the support they need.

It is essential to acknowledge that, while online therapy is beneficial for many, certain situations may be more suited to in-person sessions. Online therapy may not be suitable for individuals who are:

-Currently experiencing or frequently facing crises and emergencies.

-In need of substantial safety and stabilization work.

-Requiring significant case management services or regular support beyond therapy sessions.

-Facing a notable risk of self-harm or harm to others.

    -Individuals who prefer working face-to-face.

I am committed to prioritizing your safety and well-being. If your circumstances fall into these categories, I will collaborate with you to explore alternative options that best meet your needs.

  • Our connection unfolds weekly, dedicating an hour to your growth via a completely private and HIPAA-compliant video platform. As you progress toward your desired goals, the rhythm of our counseling sessions may naturally transition to bi-weekly or even monthly, marking a shift into the valuable "maintenance" phase of counseling. The duration of your treatment is as unique as your journey; success in counseling is intricately tied to your active engagement during our sessions and the integration of learned skills between our meetings.

  • Yes, therapy is generally confidential. At Safe Harbor Therapy, your privacy is of utmost importance, and the information shared during our sessions is treated with the highest level of confidentiality.

However, it's essential to be aware that there are specific situations where confidentiality may need to be breached. These instances include:

    1. Harm to Self or Others: If there is a serious and imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, I am obligated to take necessary steps to ensure safety. This may involve breaking confidentiality to involve appropriate support systems or authorities.

    2. Child or Elder Abuse: If there is reason to suspect child or elder abuse, therapists are mandated reporters and may need to report this to the relevant authorities.

    3. Court Orders or Legal Requirements: In some cases, a court order or legal requirement may compel the disclosure of certain information.

While these situations are rare, it's important to be aware of the limitations to confidentiality. Before breaking confidentiality, every effort will be made to discuss the situation with you and involve you in the decision-making process, to the extent allowed by law.

If you have any concerns or questions about confidentiality, please feel free to discuss them during our sessions. Open communication is key to fostering a trusting therapeutic relationship.

  • Absolutely, the ability to handle life's challenges is a valuable skill. However, there are times when seeking therapy can provide additional support and insights. Therapy isn't solely for those in crisis; it's a resource for anyone seeking personal growth, self-discovery, or assistance in navigating life's complexities.

Therapy offers a confidential and non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It can be a proactive step towards enhancing your overall well-being, gaining new perspectives, and developing valuable coping skills.

If you're uncertain whether therapy is right for you, consider scheduling a complimentary consultation. This provides an opportunity to discuss your concerns, goals, and whether therapy aligns with your current needs. Remember, seeking support is a sign of strength and a commitment to your own growth and fulfillment.

  • Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
